For beginners who want to get acquainted with their cameras

This course is a city tour with photo training – an ideal discovery tour for beginners. Photographically explore the city of Frankfurt under the professional guidance of Nils Thies, multimedia journalist and reportage photographer. On this tour, Frankfurt’s Römerberg, the main railway station or banking district will open up new perspectives. In one afternoon, you will learn to pay attention to important details and use your camera correctly. In addition to technical basics, you will also receive practical tips on composition. Professional photographic equipment is not required for participation.

If you wish, you may photograph using high-quality Olympus cameras, which FFF’s main sponsor Olympus Deutschland makes available for the workshops.

The Frankfurt-based multimedia journalist Nils Thies (*1979) completed his Master of Science in the field of digital media at the Hochschule Bremerhaven, Hochschule Bremen and the Finnish University of Applied Science Mikkeli. He worked at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) as a picture editor after completing his training there. Thies has been working as a photo and multimedia journalist and is currently the photographer of the German Central Bank. For his assignments, he has travelled to Greece, Kosovo, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Croatia.
