LECTURE

FERHAT BOUDA
“EINE ANDERE WELT”

Friday, April 29, 2022, 6 pm

Location: Fotografie Forum Frankfurt

In the current FFF exhibition the Frankfurt-based photographer Ferhat Bouda uses predominantly black and white photographs, to express his stories about communities in various countries in North Africa, in Mongolia and of social groups in Frankfurt. In the FFF ACADEMY lecture “Another World”, the Agence VU photographer tells how these and other of his photo projects came about. He says himself: “This lecture is a presentation of my photographic path and work. In a small Kabyle village, where photography had no place, a vague idea was born, through which a whole new world would open up to me. My path first led me to Paris, where I encountered photography at every turn, immersed myself in it, and finally decided to become a photographer. But it was only in Frankfurt and through the opportunities offered by the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt that my vague idea of yesteryear became concrete. The presentation shows my work, my publications as well as images of important photographers on my way.”

Ferhat Bouda, born 1976 to a Berber family in Algeria, studied photography in France and Germany and is member of the photo agency Agence VU. His photo essays are regularly published in international newspapers and magazines, including Le Monde, Geo, The New York Times and Spiegel. His work has been exhibited in numerous photographic festivals. 2017 he received a grant from the Hessische Kulturstiftung. In 2020 he was honoured with the Ellen Auerbach Fellowship for Photography from the JUNGE AKADEMIE/Akademie der Künste, Berlin.
