The exhibition “WOMEN ARE STILL BEAUTIFUL” at Museum Bensheim shows around 200 street photographs from the Freddy Langer Collection, who also curated the exhibition. Among others, photographs by famous photographers such as Gary Winogrand, Lee Friedlander, Helen Levitt, Robert Doisneau, Gabriele and Helmut Nothhelfer, Walker Evans, Barbara Klemm, Robert Frank, Andy Warhol, Diane Arbus and many more are represented.

The focus of the FFF ACADEMY on the road event is a private guided tour through the exhibition “WOMEN ARE STILL BEAUTIFUL” at the Museum Bensheim. Participants will gain exciting insights into Freddy Langer's photography collection with a focus on Garry Winogrand's photographs.

Freddy Langer (*1957) grew up in Frankfurt am Main, apart from one year of schooling in England. After graduating from high school and doing his civilian service as a paramedic, he studied American studies, English studies, and film and television studies in Frankfurt and the United States. While still a student, he wrote in the feature section and magazine of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, primarily on cinema, photography and American topics. After graduating with a paper on Moby-Dick, he joined the editorial staff of the F.A.Z. subsidiary Die Neue Ärztliche in 1987. In 1989, he moved to the travel section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, taking over as its editor in 2002. At the same time, he is in charge of photography in the feature section. He is the author of several books on America, including the volume Route 66 – The Final Cut. A collection of his reportages, glosses and feuilletons from the Reiseblatt has been published under the title So weit. So gut, and his hiking stories and mountain adventures are collected in the reading books Alles zu Fuß and Weitergehen. In the fall of 2003 he was awarded the Berg.Welten prize, and in 2012 he received the Münsterland Journalism Prize. In his spare time, Freddy Langer photographs celebrities wearing sleeping goggles. Photographs of this ongoing project were published in a book, too. For over 30 years Langer has collected international photography, focussing on Street Photography. In 2004, part of his collection was included in the Fotografie Forum Frankurt exhibition “Relating to Photography. Highlights from private Collections”.
