Workshop schedule

February 19: Meeting at 10 am. First, Ute Noll shows how she places artistic photography in magazines, exhibitions and social media networks. Using her own work examples, she explains how text, layout, typography and image become successful units and which issues are crucial for this. Practical tips are also discussed: How do I compose a picture spread that works well? How do I plan an exhibition hanging, how do I plan a social media concept? When is text important, what does it depend on? When are captions useful? How do I combine several series? How do I attract the attention of editors? How do I support them in their work? What should I bear in mind when publishing on my own social media channels?

After the lunch break, the participants present themselves, one of their works and their workshop goal. The instructor will then support them with individual assistance and tasks such as developing a content and visual concept or edits or writing a project or artist statement. It is also possible to develop a social media strategy. These tasks can be worked on in the weeks between the two workshop days.

April 2nd: Meeting at 10 am. Feedback from the instructor and tips for further work.

When photographers and artists acquire a successful presentation of their work in professional magazines, publishing houses, exhibitions and on online platforms they are relieved and happy. Self-publishing, various social media channels, and exhibitions in off-spaces are also good ways to make a work visible and known beyond one's own radius. For this to be optimally successful, in all cases of such work publications, a good preparation of one's own work for art mediators, editors and curators is necessary. In this FFF workshop with presentation professional Ute Noll, photographers and image creatives will receive valuable tips for successful collaboration with image editors, exhibition organizers and other designers.
