In a nocturnal rush of colour and sound, Jessica Backhaus’ vibrant works spanning 25 years meet the Afro-futuristic sounds, field recordings, and digital sequences of ídà’asparo.
Form, colour, and light are the defining elements of the visual cosmos of the internationally acclaimed photographer Jessica Backhaus. The comprehensive exhibition “Jessica Backhaus. Shadows might Dance” brings together works from the past twenty-five years, offering an exceptional insight into Backhaus’s artistic evolution. Spanning her early documentary practice, the gradual shift toward abstraction, and culminating in her latest series, “Papyrus”, presented here for the first time, the selection traces the breadth and nuance of her œuvre. MORE ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Since 2025, Vivian Desirée Albano and Duke Jason Katatumba have been developing their Afro-futurist statement within the German music scene as the duo ídà’asparo, drawing on personal experiences and diverse African and African American musical influences from the past 100 years. Blending playful elements of R&B and pop with African percussion, traditional string instruments, backing chants, and complex, atmospheric live loops, they create a unique and immersive musical experience.
Throughout the evening, FFF and Fujifilm invite guests to take part in an INSTAX activation featuring glowing memories and a prize draw.
