Since 1913 the Deutsche Dokumentationszentrum für Kunstgeschichte – Bildarchiv Foto Marburg (DDK) has developed from being the department of photographs of the art historical seminars of the university to one of the world's most important photography collections regarding the history of European art.

For years the photographic prints of this collection received little attention, as the Bildarchiv Foto Marburg understood itself as a negative archive. Within the past years in the revival of the the interest in original prints and their materiality more research has turned to considering the production and archiving of photographic prints at Foto Marburg.

Through the 2016 acquisition of the library of the collector and photo historian Rolf H. Krauss the importance of prints in the archive has grown.
An important section of this collection includes books with pasted original photographs, but it also contains a number of interesting printed photo books.

The lecture gives an overview of the institution of the DDK, the collection and some current activities and research themes.

The lecture will be held in German.
